Facebook recently added support for 360 images (it is only missing the zoom in/zoom out feature to be perfect)
Here is a quick guide to fix photos taken with you new 360 camera and adding a copyright notice or logo.
(this is very similar to the “little planet trick”)
1. Upload the photo to your computer
2. Open the imagein Adobe Photoshop
3. Fix the image exposure and/or contrast (or whatever you want to fix) – removing noise and adding a bit of sharpness may not hurt. Take a close look at the seam in the center of the image (where the two lenses meet) and fix anything that is too obvious.
4. At this point you may need to write down the images pixel dimensions >Image>Image Size (5660×2830 in this case)
5. To fix the seam between the two images use >Filter>Other>Offset and type in the half the value of the width (2830 in this case) for the horizontal slider, and make sure wrap around is selected. This will cause this image to move to show you the second seam.
6. Go to >Image>Image Size and uncheck the Constraint icon and type in the “Width” value under “Height” (5660 in this case) – this should stretch your image into a perfect square.
7. Go to >Image>Image Rotation and choose “180” to flip your photo upside-down
8. Go to >Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinate and choose “Rectangular to Polar” and click “OK”
9. your image should now look like a little planet
10. Fix the “big thumb” or any traces from your new favorite toy – don’t forget the shadows.
11. and/or Add your logo to hide the camera and tripod
It is now time to bring back the image to it’s original format
12. Go to >Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinate and choose “Polar to Rectangular ” and click “OK”
13. Go to >Image>Image Rotation and choose “180” to flip your photo downside-up
14. Go to >Image>Image Size and type in the original Height value (did you write it down?) – this should should bring the original aspect ratio of your image.
15. Save the image as a jpg, upload to Facebook and enjoy!
